Campbell started his Scouting journey with 1st Brush Park Scouts in February 2020 just before the COVID lockdown. Despite this separation, he was always an active and cheerful member of the Unit and attended everything the Unit organised during, between and after lockdown. Campbell came to Scouts without prior experience and, as it has been said, “Scouting has been the making of Campbell”.

He immediately embraced the old scouting program and quickly transitioned to the new program showing great initiative organising and running Patrol  Activities, Friday night programs and Special Interest Awards. By tracking his own progress and challenging himself to complete Outdoor Adventure stages, Milestones and Special Interest Awards, Campbell came to the realisation that he only required an Adventurous Journey to complete the Australian Scout Medallion.

Campbell is a much-loved member of the Unit and was appointed Unit Leader by his peers in early 2022 and has been a mentor and support to new Patrol Leaders and new Scouts ever since.  He showed great leadership when planning and leading his Adventurous Journey from Mt Kuringai to Crosslands. Difficult leadership decisions had to be made but with praise from his Hike Leader and emergency services he showed great maturity bringing the patrol through safely (physically and mentally) and with happy memories and funny stories.

In planning, preparing, doing, and reviewing all of his activities, Campbell has demonstrated significant personal growth in maturity, perseverance and resilience. He has successfully balanced the challenges of his love for Scouting with school studies and family to achieve this award.

In his time as a Scout, Campbell has not been able to attend a Jamboree, yet, but attended Sydney North Region ScoutHike and as many District and Unit camps as possible. Campbell’s energy and motivation have inspired others (including the Adult Leaders) and his willingness to face challenges with courage is a wonderful example to younger Scouts.

Congratulations Campbell on achieving your peak award.
