Year 8 students participated in an Artist in Residence day with Jessica Watts creating textural birds. This gave our budding artists an insight on how to paint using texture, colour and another tool other than a paint brush – a pallet knife.
“The Artist in Residence day was a wonderful day for me since it allowed me to showcase my visual art skills. It’s fascinating how you can create paintings using a palette knife. Painting birds was enjoyable for me, but painting with a pallet knife was tough. Eventually, I created a lovely artwork of a black cockatoo, which is one of my favourite bird species. As a result, the arts in residence day enhanced my knowledge and art skills, resulting in a masterpiece”. By Jerome C
