Young Ben K has always had a passion for footy, but 2025 has been a standout year for the rising star. At just 14, Ben earned a coveted spot in the Waratahs Under-14s Rugby team — a remarkable achievement that reflects his dedication and talent.
Ben plays for Central Eastwood and was selected to represent the Eastwood District team, which triumphed at the Sydney Cup during the Rugby State Championships in June. The team finished as runner-up State Champions, with Ben making his mark in the front row as both hooker and prop. His impressive performance led to his selection for the NSW Rugby Development Squad, where he toured Adelaide in July.
“I started playing Rugby when I was four,” Ben recalls. “It was a choice between Rugby and Soccer — and Mum chose Rugby.”
Ben’s athletic abilities don’t stop on the field. He also excels in water polo and travelled to Perth earlier this year to compete at Nationals. Representing Marist College Eastwood, Ben also swam as part of the relay team at the NSW All Schools competition.
College Principal Ms Silvana Rossetti shared her pride: “I’m thrilled for Ben — his selection into the Waratahs team is well deserved. I’m excited to see him trial for the NSWCCC team representing Marist Eastwood next year!
Though Ben still has years of schooling ahead, his dreams are already taking shape. He hopes to play professional Rugby, with aspirations of a future career in business or construction.
