Principal, Mr David Sullivan, was delighted to learn this week that brothers Kerstan and Kurtis devoted part of their holidays to volunteering with Kids Giving Back. Their commitment to service reflects the values we hold dear as a Marist community and is a wonderful example of leadership in action.

Greetings, I am Kerstan from Homeroom 804 and my brother, Kurtis, in Homeroom 702, was involved with Kids Giving Back last year.

I would like to talk about what this program is and how it leads this school to a better place.

The Kids Giving Back program is a program where kids volunteer for young people aged 5–18 by helping to cook meals for the needy within our society. Their mission is to create a better, more accepting society based on empathy and understanding.

By giving out freshly cooked food to change how people can eat, this makes a positive impact on both the person who received it and the person who gave it, as it is a lenient action that fulfills the duty of God as a Marist Catholic school to help and care for the needy.

I really enjoyed being part of Kids Giving Back. Knowing that we can make people’s days feel just a bit better by giving them freshly cooked meals upon making them. This fulfills my duty to God as a Catholic person and also inspires other people to be the ones who can give back to people with food.

Remember: Just one kind action can change the way people live by boosting their empathy and understanding.
