Australia has just delivered its strongest performance to date at the prestigious 2025 HHI World Hip Hop Dance Championship, recently held in Phoenix, USA. Collin W, along with his teammates, brought home two Silver Medals: one in the Junior Division and another in the Under 17 Division.

This global event drew over 3,500 dancers from more than 55 countries, all competing at the highest level of hip hop dance. The road to the championship was anything but easy. Collin shared, “During the school term, we train three times a week and during the holidays, it ramps up to five sessions weekly.” His team, Kookie Krumblez, powered through intense rehearsals filled with flips, jumps and intricate choreography—pushing past injuries and fatigue in pursuit of excellence.

Collin’s journey began at just four years old, when he first discovered his love for hip hop. “Yes, it’s a lot of hard work,” he admits, “but hard work pays off. I love dancing and I really enjoy competing.” That passion and dedication led him through a rigorous selection process to become a core member of Australia’s elite dance crew, Kookies and Kream.

Ms Silvana Rossetti, Principal of Marist College Eastwood, praised Collin’s commitment: “Collin is an outstanding student who pours his energy into everything he does. He seizes every opportunity and represents both our College and Australia with pride.”

Collin’s biggest supporter, his mum Chelsea, couldn’t be prouder. “He achieved his dream—standing on the podium with a medal in hand. We’re incredibly grateful to his coaches for their guidance, to Marist College for its unwavering support and to his teachers and classmates for their encouragement. As parents, we’ll continue to stand behind his passion wholeheartedly.”
